Höxter/Hanover, April 24, 2017. The Arntz Optibelt Group is at Hannover Messe again this year with its own stand featuring new ideas and products. Optibelt’s slogan for this year’s fair is “Just like Einstein”, and Optibelt is showcasing innovations in areas like manufacturing systems engineering and special-purpose construction, logistics and food processing, new coupling solutions from its shared line with DESCH DPC, and custom-built novelties from Optibelt Material Handling and Optibelt Walk. In addition, they are presenting new products for specialty gardening tools such as new drive solutions for gardeners and landscapers.
“The fair is always a great opportunity for us to show new things and see what kind of responses and feedback we get from visitors in the industry,” says Reinhold Mühlbeyer, CEO of Optibelt GmbH.
Manufacturing systems engineering and special-purpose construction
The optibelt SUPER XE-POWER PRO is Optibelt’s new raw edge, maintenance-free high performance V-belt that is ideally suited for manufacturing systems engineering and special-purpose construction. This V-belt is suitable for back bend idlers and it can handle temperatures from -50°C to +120°C, plus it is service-free and offers 20% more performance than its predecessor, the optibelt SUPER X-POWER. That makes it suitable for ultracompact drive construction. It also runs quiet, even at high torque, and it can be used in extreme applications such as fans, drills and pumps.
Gardening and landscaping
Optibelt developed the optibelt GREEN GARDEN line of replacement parts for gardeners and landscapers. These drive solutions are characterized by their long lifespan and maximum power transmission. They are used in lawn mowers and front mowers, lawn tractors, dethatchers, multi-reel mowers, chippers, motor hoes and stump grinders.
Logistics and food processing
The new optibelt ELASTOMIT-R radiation protection curtains are used for luggage checks at airports and for contaminant inspections and completeness checks in food processing. Optibelt offers a wide range of lead and lead-free materials with various shielding values for X-ray inspection systems with voltages of up to 150 kV. All products are based on a vulcanized rubber matrix that guarantees abrasion resistance and flexibility even under high loads.
Industry-specific coupling solutions
Optibelt’s joint venture with DESCH DPC has produced industry-specific coupling solutions, which will be exhibited at the fair. The product line includes elastic couplings and stiff couplings as well as special pulleys and plain bearings.
Custom-built solutions from Optibelt Material Handling and Optibelt Walk
In addition to series products, Optibelt will be showing several custom-built solutions from Optibelt Material Handling and Optibelt Walk at Hannover Messe. These solutions are deployed in areas such as the textiles industry, metal processing and the beverage industry. These customers rely on extremely resilient polyurethane timing belts because they are really tough and they can also be used in demanding transport applications. In response to high demand for custom-built solutions, Optibelt just opened a new 1,300 square-meter production facility for Optibelt Material Handling in Rinteln, Germany, in February 2017.
Optibelt Walk develops and manufactures special gearheads and complex drives. For example, Optibelt Walk recently developed a gearhead solution for ResQTec’s newest electric cutter for fire rescue crews. It was a challenge to design a gearhead that could withstand an extreme load and transmit maximum power in spite of its compact size.
Belt drives for folding bikes
German manufacturer Bernds Bicycles is now using the optibelt DELTA CHAIN Carbon toothed belt for the first time in bikes. The Optibelt stand will feature these too. These hand-made folding bikes from Bernd, an owner-run family business, are ergonomically correct, ultraportable and can be equipped with a proprietary belt drive that features the optibelt DELTA CHAIN Carbon. An integrated mechanical crank enables it to be mounted with very little effort, and its carbon reinforcement makes it extremely tension-resistant. Thanks to Bernds design it is self-centering. Its life span is two to three times longer than conventional chain drives and even other drive belts.
