OPTIBELT Goes Academic
Under the guiding principle, “OPTIBELT goes academic”, a guest lecture by the Arntz OPTIBELT Group took place on 17 June 2013 at the Ostwestfalen-Lippe University of Applied Sciences (HS-OWL) in Lemgo.
Professor Dr. Christian Faupel, owner of the chair for controlling and cost management in the specialist area of production and economics at the HS-OWL is excited: “It is delightful to win a locally resident, globally operating and successful company such as OPTIBELT as a partner, already for the second time, and involve them in encouraging knowledge transfer.”
As a guest speaker, Mr. Michael Rose, director of the process and production optimisation department at OPTIBELT, had the chance to present a 60-minute lecture on practical approaches and solutions from the area of management accounting including its specific characteristics. After a short introduction and warm welcome, Dr. Faupel, whose career started at Arntz OPTIBELT Group, invited his former colleagues to take the floor.
After an introductory company presentation and short academic classification of management accounting, the topics of cost type (accounting), cost centre (accounting) and cost unit (accounting) along with their specific characteristics were the subject of focus when implemented at a leading manufacturer of technologically advanced drive components.
“Mr. Rose was able to give an outstanding application-oriented and coherent overview of practically relevant questions involving management accounting to an interested audience of approx. 200 people, thereby relating it to the subject matter of the lecture previously dealt with,” commented Dr. Faupel enthusiastically, following the lecture.
Rose, he himself alumni of HS-OWL added: “It is superb that OPTIBELT, as an inherent part of the region, is a sought-after partner of the university environment and that we have the opportunity to give a presentation in such an important arena. At a dinner together afterwards, at Dr. Faupel’s invitation, both sides confirm wanting to continue and intensify the cooperation.
