- 10,000 square metres of extra space
- New agitator commissioned
- Long-term plans seek to double the production output
Höxter, 10th February 2016. The annex buildings at the Romanian location of Arntz OPTIBELT Group in Tauthi Magheraus have been completed. They consist of a two-storey administrative building with a floor area of around 1,200 square metres, a production warehouse of 5,400 square metres, and a preproduction plant of 3,500 square metres equipped with new facilities and machinery.
All things considered, the located has thus been expanded by around 10,000 square metres. “We realised the entire project in record time within a year and a half,” said Konrad Ummen, member of the management board of Arntz OPTIBELT Group. At the same time, the new agitator was successfully started up just before Christmas 2015. The ongoing trial runs of the new manufacturing processes will be completed by early March, so that the new buildings will be ready for the final acceptance by the local authorities.
Increasing the Production Capacities “With the new production capacities including preproduction we intend to start a three-shift operation by the end of the second quarter. With our new production program in Tauthi Magheraus we seek to increase manufacturing in 2016 by minimum 2.5 Mio. pieces and in 2017 by about 4 Mio. pieces. In the long run, the belt production in Romania is supposed to double its output,” Ummen explained.
“The expansion in Romania is primarily a response to the continued growth of Arntz OPTIBELT Group in its core business, that is, the production of drive belts. By investing in a new agitator and the associated preproduction units, we put the supply end and the production quality of the OPTIBELT assortment on a solid footing,” added Reinhold Mühlbeyer, CEO of Arntz OPTIBELT Group. To this end, the workforce will be stepped up from currently 300 employees to about 375 employees by the end of the year.
Great Marketing Opportunities in Eastern Europe Aside from setting up the in-house mixing and the production of semi-finished parts, one of the main purposes of the site expansion is to increase capacity in the production of the company's two main segments – industry and automotive. The investments will substantially expand the product assortment in Romania. One of the new product groups manufactured at the site, for example, will be automotive toothed belts. Especially the Eastern European markets with their growth rates present great marketing opportunities.
