Polyurethane belt production and finishing division at the Rinteln site renamed
The product spectrum of Arntz OPTIBELT Group, one of the world's leading manufacturers of high-performance drive belts, has included polyurethane toothed belts of the Ecobelt brand for the past 15 years. Now, the Ecobelt GmbH was renamed “OPTIBELT Material Handling GmbH.” Since 2013, OPTIBELT has been structured into the four divisions “Material Handling,” “Power Transmission,” “Automotive Technology,” and “Elastomer Solutions.”
The production of various types of belts and their finishing with coatings of polyurethane or other materials is now clustered in the new Material Handling competence centre at the group's production site in Rinteln in Lower Saxony. As Volker Kettelhake, Managing Director of Material Handling, elaborated: “Having direct access to the production facilities at our Rinteln site will enhance our technical application consultation services and enable us to shorten the turnaround time for custom solutions.”
He went on to say that bespoke customer solutions, rather than mass production, represent the core business of the Rinteln plant anyway. OPTIBELT Material Handling provides bespoke solutions to customers in the fields of technology trading, original equipment in transportation technology, food industry, packaging technology, print media, and drive technology.
Ecobelt, a company formed in Bad Blankenburg in Thuringia in 1998, previously operated a branch on the corporate premises in Rinteln, which extend over an area of more than 3,500 square metres. Originally set up in the town of Porta Westfalica in eastern North Rhine-Westphalia in 2004, the branch relocated to a complex of buildings that the OPTIBELT Group acquired in Rinteln in April 2008. In late 2014, Ecobelt moved its headquarters from Bad Blankenburg to Rinteln for good.
The purpose of relocating the company's registered office was to intensify the interaction between the production units (finishing and extrusion) and to speed up the development effort by pooling all R&D units in a single location.
