Optibelt GmbH launches an extensive test programme for bicycle belt drives

|   Press releases

• Wide range of test vehicles and conditions

• Test riders give valuable feedback

• Joint project for innovation

Höxter, 19 August 2024. Around 50 committed employees from all our German locations have been given the opportunity to test the Arntz Optibelt Group’s innovative “Twintrack” belt drive, on different types and makes of bicycle – to help advance the further development of the drive.

Wide range of test vehicles and conditions

This initiative includes gravel bikes, touring bikes, city bikes and even a cargo bike, as e-bike versions and as conventional bicycles without a motor. Eleven of the test riders have been provided with high-quality Konrad bikes. The bikes are made available free of charge by Optibelt and designed to test the belt drive thoroughly under real conditions. The test involves regular use of the bikes, which means travelling a minimum of 100 km per week, or going on cycling trips covering at least 1,000 km.

Test riders give valuable feedback

The goal of this extensive series of tests is to really put the Twintrack belt drive through its paces. The feedback provided by the test riders is of key importance in helping to optimise the performance, feel and handling of the belt drive.

A special in-house app is provided to record the test rides in the most efficient way. This will involve giving detailed ride reports, including the date, location, and length in kilometres, as well as personal notes and photos provided by the test riders. These comprehensive records will allow the test riders’ experience to be analysed precisely and then used in the further development of the product.

“We would like to thank all the test riders for taking part and for their valuable contributions to this project. We eagerly await the results and are delighted to be able to promote the further development of the Twintrack belt drive with the support of our colleagues,” says Andreas Klaffner, Head of Optibelt Mobility.
