IHK [Chamber of Commerce] President shows he is impressed by the Arntz Optibelt Group

Apprentices present their training professions

The name Optibelt does not just stand for top quality of technologically demanding drive belts of all kinds, here the apprentices already also bear major responsibility for their respective area of responsibilities, as they are given the opportunity to take advantage of the many different possibilities for development and promotion at Optibelt by internal and external further education and training.

Therefore, the IHK President, Ortwin Goldbeck, was dead right with his decision to start his “tour of training” at Optibelt this year. Accompanied by the IHK General Secretary, Thomas Niehoff, and the Technical Managing Director, Swen Binner, Goldbeck visits particularly committed and exemplary training companies.

After the welcome by the chairman of management, Heinz Wilkening, and the managing directors, Konrad Ummen (Administration and Finances) and Dr. Arnd Mathias (Production and Development), a delegation of the 39 apprentices in the Höxter plant took over the responsibility for the visit. With the help of a PowerPoint presentation the apprentices, Anja Ostermann, Manuel Vieth and Sebastian Seibt, presented the various training professions and the possibilities of the dual education in their training company. 19 young people are currently being trained in the commercial and 20 in the technical field at Optibelt – including seven students, who
aim to achieve the qualifications Bachelor of Engineering, Bachelor of Arts, Bachelor of Science and graduate in Business Administration.

Impressed by the presentation of the apprentices the IHK President, Ortwin Goldbeck, thanked and highly praised the team as well as the management for this demonstration of exemplary training policies.

In a subsequent exchange of ideas, in which leading representatives of Optibelt also took part, the specialist competence of this team could be clearly seen with regard to training and education. It was expressed in an interesting talk that training and education does not just mean the perception of social responsibility by the entrepreneur, but above all represents the key to the continued existence of a company.

“Arntz Optibelt has been successful for more than 100 years and many years are still to follow,” Heinz Wilkening also expressed the considerable engagement in the field of training and education in a plausible phrase.
