Incidentally, it wasn’t until 1922 that Einstein was awarded the Nobel Prize for his achievement in theoretical physics. It sounds complicated and may even remind you of abstract formulae from physics lessons at school. In reality, however, Einstein’s discoveries are commonly put into use today: in complex medical devices as well as digital cameras, televisions or navigation devices. Einstein himself always remained modest: “It’s not that I’m particularly talented. I’m just passionately curious.”
Albert Einstein is born on 14.03.1879
in Ulm. He isn’t as unsuccessful at school
as is often told.
At 16, he follows his parents to Italy,
partly to avoid mandatory national service.
He finally graduates secondary school in
Switzerland in 1896. He takes his exams at
the Polytechnic University of Zurich in 1900.
1905 becomes Einstein’s year of greatness.
He publishes the first draft of
the theory of relativity, including
his infamous E=mc2 formula.
Einstein becomes doctor of philosophy in 1906.
Between 1909 and 1914, Einstein works as a professor
in Zurich as well as in Prague for a while.
He gains the title of professor at the
Prussian Academy of Sciences in 1914
in Berlin. In 1916, he finishes his work
‘The General Theory of Relativity’.
In 1921, Einstein receives the Nobel Prize
for his achievements in theoretical physics
and in particular for his discovery of the
law of the photoelectrical effect.
Einstein emigrates to the USA in 1933.
